Nic & Steve have been together for well over 10 years, they have two beautiful girls and are such a wonderful family. I get to see Nic every day as our children go to the same school so weve been chatting about their wedding day for quite some time. I remember saying to Nic, wouldn’t it be wonderful if the day is all frosty and crispy, it would make everything so magical. We agreed that we would both be so happy as long as it doesn’t rain.
I woke up on the big day and looked out of my window, ran downstairs and out into the garden (still pyjama clad) into the magical crispy morning and excited text Nicola, her weather wish had come true. I arrived at one of my favourite venues, Statham Lodge, and all the Christmas trees lined the lawn in front of the historic building. As I was photographing the magical wintery scene I glimpsed Nic & Amelia in the window, excitedly waving down to me and I hurried to join the party. We did nothing but laugh and have fun during the relaxing morning, I got to see old friends (Katie Corcorran – Bridal Hair Specialist, and the amazing Glow Bridal Makeup Artist), both incredibly talented women. They transformed our bevvy of beauties into knock out gorgeous girls.
Every girl dreams of a fairytale, of a magical memorable wedding day filled with love, laughter and joy. This was the day that Nic & Steve (and their girls) got their own fairytale and dream-come-true day. Steve was busily arranging all the table centre piece arrangements, having sliced & carved his own tree logs by hand. Ive never seen a groom take complete control of the room design and I have to give him his dues, he absolutely smashed it; with a little help from the fabulous Andy Ball, duty manager and all round wedding superhero (thanks for the help moving the 2nd camera)
Standing at the end of the aisle I watched Steve nervously await the arrival of his bride. Now im not sure how he has told the story, but the truth is I didn’t start him off crying, he started me off. When his girls and bridesmaids glided towards him the emotion was too much. I knew in that moment that nobody would ever love Nicola the way that Steve does. With a small hiccup of the candles and a fabulously big princess wedding gown, Nic made it into the arms of her love and pretty much the smile didn’t leave her face for the rest of the day.
We wandered around the beautiful grounds, capturing moments, sunsets, family love and joy. Kind of perfect for my last wedding of 2019, especially when you get to share the magical day with friends.
