Sometimes in life you meet really special people, people who change your life for the better and brighten it like a huge ray of sunshine, just by being in your life. I first met Glasvegas well over 12+ years ago (im still in age denial). There was a small gig and a gorgeous friend had convinced me to go, telling me that the guitars made her pants pinch, so with that stellar review in hand, off we went. The gig was awesome. Afterwards we all sat together laughing and drinking and amidst the same dry sarcastic sense of humour and shameless dreams of adventure, a close and cherished friendship was born; Their family is my family. Fast forward many years and enough stories and escapades to keep us laughing for a lifetime, my little-big-brother from another mother finally found the girl to hold his heart forever. As tall, fun and incredibly mischievous Robert is (although you probably know him as Rab), he is a true creative. A sensitive soul with a huge heart, he loves his friends and family fiercely and is loyal to a fault. When Robert told me he had found Shannon, I knew she had to be someone pretty special for him to fall head over heels in love with. I knew he had finally found his lobster.

When I met Shannon that morning I knew, within seconds, exactly why Robert loves her so completely. Shannon had her sister Laura by her side (although I misheard her and thought she said Gloria – so it kind of stuck lol), surrounded by her best friends, mum and mother-in-law to be; the preparations were perfect. The girls were so much fun and we spent the whole time laughing. Shannon had chosen the most incredible soft pastel bouquet with berries and tones of lilacs, pinks, fawn & white, which celebrated the bridesmaids gorgeous dress colour and delicate design. The bride & grooms mums had the most stunning fawn & champagne coloured outfits and definitely dressed to impress, I’ve never seen Linda & Roberta look so beautiful and glamorous. When Shannon put on her breathtaking champagne blush, Essense Of Australia lace wedding gown, she shined so beautifully. Richard could barely control his pride in seeing his beautiful daughter ready to marry the love of her life.

I raced to the meet the boys at the sensational ‘House for an Art Lover’ a building steeped in Scottish history and stunning beauty. Every aspect is a feast for the eyes and I was in my element. Roberts cousin James (lead singer of Glasvegas) was Best Man for the job and brought his gentle calmness to the room. Paul (Bass Player for Glasvegas), brought the Buckfast and the banter. The fellas were looking handsome in their twirly tartan skirts and wearing furry bags (which I was politely and correctly informed are sporrans – we still call em furry bags in Liverpool). I had flashbacks of ‘stabbed’, when I saw they were carrying knives. But there was nothing but love in that room and it restored my soul. All the people Robert and Shannon love most were sat excitedly waiting to begin the celebrations; Although we carried some very special absent friends in our hearts.

I probably would have kept it together (you all know im an unashamedly emotional cry-baby) but when Robert glimpsed his beautiful bride gliding towards him on the arm of her proud dad, his lip quivered; So naturally, I crumbled like a hob-nob. The humanist ceremony was so special and personal and included everyone in the blessing of this beautiful marriage.
Nobody parties quite like we do. We love a bit of comedy dress up, huge group Scottish dancing, dramatic dance routines, waving our hands in the air and tackling bridesmaids to the ground to catch the bouquet. We laughed, celebrated, talked and hugged. The best bit about it was that dancefloor and room could have been empty. Robert & Shannon only had eyes for each other, and everyone else was just high on the love and the joy we all shared for them. They cut the magnificent wedding cake, made by no other than the talented Denise (Roberts cousin), super-mam & band manager; and danced the night away. Old Friends made new friends and families grew overnight. Its what the best weddings are all about. Robert & Shannon, I love the bones of you. Thank you for all the love and letting me share a little bit of your forever. Lisa xx
